Dr. Nelson has evaluated environmental, chemical, and biological issues at dozens of sites, and resulting from a wide range of perils. He has evaluated extents of environmental contamination, air-borne and water-borne contaminants, product quality and contamination issues for petroleum products, fuel and chemical-related vehicular distress, and chemical contribution to structural distress.  Dr. Nelson has provided expertise to property owners, insurance carriers, attorneys, industrial manufacturers, and governmental agencies. He has also developed and specified measures for damage repair and mitigation.

Dr. Nelson has delivered numerous scientific and technical presentations pertaining to a variety of topics in chemistry, biology, and environmental science.  His audiences have included scientists, technical experts, university faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, insurance industry representatives, attorneys, and government regulators.  

Dr. Nelson has taught coursework at several universities, colleges, and professional societies.  He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and he is an inventor on three patents. Dr. Nelson has provided expert testimony in deposition and trial.
