David Dukich, P.E., CPD
Project Director
During his tenure at Texas Tech University and as part of a grant from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Mr. Dukich conducted undergraduate research on methods of corrosion protection, prevention, and mitigation in the nuclear industry for the Department of Mechanical Engineering Materials Performance and Failure Analysis Laboratory. Additionally, he constructed course modules for distance education courses related to his research under the NRC grant. He won the “2013 Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award” for his efforts.
Mr. Dukich has assessed commercial rooftop mechanical equipment at multiple sites for distress attributed to hail and wind and he has also assessed commercial and residential structures to determine the origin and cause for water intrusion and elevated indoor relative humidity related to mechanical equipment failures and construction defects.
Prior to joining Nelson Forensics, Mr. Dukich designed and analyzed numerous process piping systems in the petrochemical and nuclear industries, including cryogenic separation train piping, steam piping, solid catalyst piping, systems containing pumps and compressors, large-diameter flare piping, fire sprinkler piping, and cooling water systems. Mr. Dukich has prepared and reviewed engineering change packages for multiple nuclear power plants to replace various types of mechanical components such as manual valves, heat exchangers, HVAC equipment, and plant piping.
